New GigCity network creating IT jobs in Adelaide
IT jobs in Adelaide are on the rise. As of last week, the $7.6 million GigCity network became live in Adelaide.
Customers can now sign up for ultra-fast gigabit speeds that are 100x faster than the national average. Thanks to state government funding, Adelaide remains one of the top tech cities in the country.
How the network affects businesses and IT jobs in Adelaide
Consumers will have access to the network within key sites and co-working spaces in the Adelaide CBD. Businesses and budding entrepreneurs who need the ultra-fast speeds for their tech businesses will find the network especially enticing.
But it won’t just create IT jobs in Adelaide through the management of the network itself. Innovation SA says it will even attract economic growth from other arenas like post-film production and biotech.
Top in Australia
SA Premier Jay Weatherill boasted that this now makes Adelaide one of the “most connected cities on earth”.
“The state government is helping start-ups and companies grow faster and attract entrepreneurs to South Australia who want to tap into the infrastructure and business environment we are creating,” he said, according ZDnet.
Whyalla and Mt. Gambier councils are also looking towards expansion of the network. Over the next four years, the government has invested a further $2.9 million into growing the network across the state.
This innovation continues to keep Adelaide as one of the top cities in Australia for technology.
